Thank you for supporting the Janeway, our province’s only hospital dedicated entirely to pediatric health care. 

Your donations to the Christmas Appeal, the Telethon, tribute gifts, community fundraisers, gifts in memory of your loved ones, monthly and planned gifts are vitally important to meet the continuing needs of the Janeway.

You, through your gifts, ensure the Janeway’s team of highly skilled doctors, nurses, technicians, therapists and health care workers has the most up to date medical equipment and the most advanced pediatric research to treat our children.

Your support will ensure the needs of the Janeway are met and all children in our province have access to the best health care possible. You can provide your support through any of our Personal and Planned Giving options.

In Honour Gifts

This is a great gift idea for those hard to shop for people.   Whether it’s Christmas, a birthday, an anniversary, a retirement, a gift for a teacher, a wedding or even to welcome a new baby you can make a gift in honor of a special occasion. 

We will send your relative, friend or coworker an acknowledgement card in recognition of your gift and you will receive a tax receipt for gifts of $ 10 and over.  

In Memoriam Gifts

Losing a friend or family member is not an easy time in a person’s life. You can remember a special loved one by making a gift in memory to the Janeway.  We will send an acknowledgement letter to the bereaved family informing them of your thoughtful gift. Once gifts reach $ 500 your loved ones name will be added to the Lasting Memories Wall.  The Holiday Season can be a very difficult time, family members will receive an invitation to the Celebration of Life Ceremony, held early in December to remember loved ones who are no longer with us.

In Memoriam Gifts can be designated to a particular hospital unit or department of the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre as per the wishes of the bereaved family.

Monthly Giving

The Monthly Giving Program is a very unique way for you to make a longtime commitment to the Janeway.  It provides an easy option for you to make substantial annual contributions to the Janeway in a monthly gift amount that will fit your individual budget. 

Your monthly gifts can be taken direct from your bank account or charged to your credit card.  You will receive a tax receipt at the end of the year for the total amount of your gifts and you can change or cancel your monthly gifts anytime you choose.  You will receive special mailings from us throughout the year letting you know how your support is helping sick and injured children in Newfoundland and Labrador.

For just $ 15 a month, less than a cup of coffee a day, you will be providing continuous health care for our children every day of the year.

Christmas Appeal

The Christmas Appeal is a direct mail appeal sent to our supporters in November just prior to the Holiday Season. This appeal gives you, our donors, an opportunity to support the Janeway during one of the most special times of the year.

Planned Giving

You can ensure the needs of our children’s health care are always met by making a future gift for our children.  By leaving a gift in your Will for the Janeway, donating a portion or all of your life insurance policy or giving the Janeway some of your shares in a publicly traded company you will receive significant tax breaks but most importantly you will create a legacy that takes care of our children for generations to come.

Our values, our goals, those things that are most important to us are what truly define us as individuals and by making a Will your final wishes will be carried out.  If you are planning to leave a future gift for the Janeway please discuss your financial plans with your estate advisor or lawyer and tell you family about your wishes so they understand and support your reasons for supporting the Janeway.  We are always available to discuss your plans and to help with any questions or concerns you may have. 

Thanks to you the Janeway will continue to provide quality health care for our children both now and in the future.  It’s a Legacy that’s too important to miss.

Bequests

You can make a gift of cash or property by including the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation in your Will.  It is one of the simplest planned gifts to arrange.  You can choose to designate your gift to an area of the hospital that is of most interest to you or you may choose to have your gift invested in the Little Red Wagon Endowment Fund to ensure that your gift benefits our children for many years to come. There are significant tax benefits to your estate by leaving a gift in your will for the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Gifts of Life Insurance

You can make a substantial gift by naming the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation owner or beneficiary of a new life insurance policy.  The premiums you pay will qualify for a tax receipt. You can also transfer an existing policy you may have to the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation and receive a tax credit for the cash surrender value of your policy.  Either way a gift of life insurance will provide a meaningful gift for our children.

Gifts of Publicly Listed Securities

You can give the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation a portion of your publicly listed securities.  The elimination of the Capital Gains tax on this type of gift means greater tax benefits for you.

We would be very pleased to work with you and your financial and legal advisors to arrange a planned gift for the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation that best suits your goals.  We strongly recommend that you seek professional legal, financial and estate planning advice before deciding on a future gift for the Janeway and we also encourage you to inform your family of your plans to support the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation through a legacy gift.
